The number the market quotes
Every trader I’ve coached for twenty years has asked some version of the same question: what is this actually worth right now?
Not what the seller is asking. Not what some algorithm thinks. What did real buyers actually pay — this week, on the platform they trade on?
For stocks and currencies, that answer is instant. For collectibles, it’s a nightmare.
You check eBay. Then TCGPlayer. Then CardMarket. Then someone mentions it just sold for twice that on Yahoo Auctions in Japan, but you can’t read Japanese and the listing is already gone. The “market price” you have is thirty percent stale before you even act on it.
That’s the problem Hoshino solves.
What we built
Hoshino is the global real-time price database for trading cards. 349,000+ cards. 19 games. 25+ active data sources. Every major platform — eBay, TCGPlayer, CardMarket, PSA auction houses, and Asia-native platforms no Western service has ever covered.
When a Charizard sells in Tokyo at 3am Singapore time, Hoshino knows. When a first-edition Umbreon VMAX changes hands on Ruten TW, we see it. When PSA grades move the spread between a raw card and a graded slab, we track it.
Every price is real. Deep-linked to the actual listing. Timestamped to the minute.
When we don’t have enough data to quote honestly, we say so. That’s not a weakness — it’s the product. The market trusts us precisely because we won’t fabricate a number.
The infrastructure layer
This is not a price guide. Price guides are static. This is live infrastructure.
The industry is building on top of it already: collectors quote our prices, investors run their models off our data, platforms want to embed our badge. We’re becoming what the category cannot operate without — the way Bloomberg became what finance cannot operate without.
That’s the endgame. Not “a card price site.” The reference layer the whole market runs on.
Ruthlessly honest
I’ve watched traders blow up because they trusted the wrong number. I’ve watched collectors overpay by 40% because they had no real-time comp.
Hoshino exists because accurate data is a structural advantage. If you have it and they don’t, you win. Consistently. Compounding.
Find the edge. Build the system. Remove emotion. Compound.
